Victorians To Have Their Say On New Plan To Tackle Cancer
Victorians can now have their say on the Andrews Labor Government’s next big plan to prevent cancer, boost survival rates and improve treatment for patients.
Every 15 minutes someone in Victoria is diagnosed with cancer. Every four years, the Government develops an updated state-wide cancer plan to drive down the harm caused by the insidious disease.
Victorians can contribute to the Victorian cancer plan 2020-2024 by attending a consultation session during October in Melbourne, Bendigo, Mildura, Ballarat, Geelong, Warrnambool, Traralgon, Shepparton or Albury. Or by making a written submission.
Victoria is a respected global leader in cutting-edge cancer research and breakthroughs that changes lives.
Our efforts to detect cancers earlier and improve treatments has seen the five-year survival rates for cancer increase from 46 per cent to 68 per cent over the past 30 years.
But we know there’s more work to be done.
The new plan will build on the existing Victorian cancer plan 2016-2020 to prevent cancer, increase survival, improve the experience of the cancer treatment and care system, and ensure all Victorians have the best possible chance to thrive.
Written submissions can be made via engage.vic.gov.au/victorian-cancer-plan-2020-2024 from 7 October to 4 November.
