The Allan Labor Government is supporting new ways to improve safety and reduce workplace harm in Victoria’s manufacturing industry.
Deputy Premier and Minister for WorkSafe and the TAC Ben Carroll today announced that applications are now open for the latest round of the WorkSafe Grants program – focused on preventing hazards and improving safety in manufacturing workplaces.
Grants of up to $300,000 are available for projects that improve safety, build skills and awareness around risks, and support collaboration and knowledge sharing across the industry.
Manufacturing is a priority industry for WorkSafe’s targeted enforcement and harm prevention with common injuries and hazards in the workplace including body stress, being hit by falling or moving objects and falls, trips and slips.
Victoria’s manufacturing industry employs around eight per cent of the state’s workforce but accounted for more than one in ten WorkCover claims accepted last financial year −so far this year, WorkSafe has accepted more than 2,000 claims from manufacturing workers.
Whether it’s through new technology or equipment, developing and sharing knowledge and resources, or new ways of working, WorkSafe grants support solutions that make the biggest difference and have the greatest impact on the health, safety and wellbeing of Victorian workers.
Eligible organisations including employers, community or local groups, and employee or employer associations can apply for the latest round of WorkSafe grant funding until Wednesday 3 December.
