Have Your Say On The Future Of The Mighty MCG

Victorians can now have their say on the future of the iconic Melbourne Cricket Ground.

Minister Dimopoulos today opened consultation on the MCG Redevelopment Business Case.

Labor is planning for the future and ensuring the stadium maintains its world-class status for the decades ahead.

The business case will assess the current state of the MCG and consider options to ensure it continues to meet the needs of athletes and visitors for decades to come.

This work is part of early planning, and no decisions have been made about any future redevelopment of the venue.

It is supported by Architectus, Foster + Partners and MANICA, working alongside AECOM, through advice on planning processes, stand construction, and timelines.

Community feedback will help identify priorities and ideas for the future of one of Victoria’s most significant sporting and events precincts.

A 2024 study found the stadium attracted over four million attendees across 69 major events.

It brought more than 620,000 visitors to Victoria and generating $720 million for the state’s economy delivering 7,500 full-time equivalent jobs.

The survey is open until Sunday, 13 September 2026.
