Have Your Say On New School Names
As part of the Allan Labor Government’s work to open 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026, communities across the state are encouraged to have their say on the names of six new schools opening in 2025.
Minister for Education Ben Carroll today launched an online survey, which will be open for two weeks to give Victorians the chance to nominate their preferred name for their new neighbourhood school.
The Labor Government is seeking the community’s input to help find a name for each school that reflects its unique identity and inspires local pride. Traditional Owner groups have been consulted and have provided a shortlist of names for each new school.
The six new schools, currently known by their interim names, are:
- Clyde North Primary School
- Clyde North Secondary School
- Pakenham North West Primary School
- Riverdale North Primary School
- Thompsons West Primary School
- Wollert Central Primary School
In 2023, the Government announced that Aboriginal language names will be preferred for new schools in an initiative to further promote Aboriginal self-determination, language and culture across the state.
The Labor Government has invested $16.9 billion over the past 10 years to build new schools and deliver more than 2,000 school upgrades − supporting more than 26,000 jobs in construction and associated industries.
The Victorian 2024/25 Budget builds on this investment, with $1 billion for 16 more new schools – completing the promise to deliver 100 new schools between 2019 and 2026.
