Victorian councils, schools and not-for-profit organisations can now apply for Allan Labor Government funding to improve road safety and reduce the number of lives lost on local roads.

Minister for Roads and Road Safety Melissa Horne has today invited community organisations to apply for this year’s $1.5 million Community Road Safety Grants Program which will deliver targeted education programs and road safety solutions in areas that need it most.

Applications are now open for the 2024/25 program to help local communities deliver much needed road safety interventions to reduce the number of people killed or seriously injured on our roads.

The grants include education sessions which fall under the following road safety categories:

• safer cyclists

• safer pedestrians

• safer drivers and passengers

• safer motorcyclists

• safer vehicles

• local road safety innovation.

Last year 94 organisations received funding to deliver more than 251 programs and projects across the state, ranging from Bike Education and Safe Routes to School for children, alcohol and other drugs, fatigue and distraction education, and programs that educate new Victorians on road safety.

This year’s grants program once again supports the Victorian Road Safety Strategy 2021-2030, which aims to halve road deaths and reduce serious injuries by 2030 and put us on the path to eliminating road deaths by 2050.
