Job growth continues to climb as Victoria recovers from the global pandemic with 236,800 jobs created in the State since September 2020.

Australian Bureau of Statistics data released today shows that 26,600 people found employment in Victoria during February alone.

In more good news, the unemployment rate experienced a large fall of 0.7 percentage points to 5.6 per cent, after peaking at 7.5 per cent in June 2020.

The boost in employment shows that Victoria is well on the path to reaching a target of creating 400,000 jobs by 2025, with today’s results confirming we are already exceeding the interim target of 200,000 new jobs by 2022.

Victoria workers are the front and centre of the State’s recovery, and were central to the Government’s unprecedented investment in job creation for those hit hardest by the coronavirus pandemic.

The Victorian Budget 2020/21 had the Jobs Plan as its centrepiece because we understand a job means certainty and security for workers and their families.

More people have found a job in Victoria than any other state since the Andrews Labor Government was elected in November 2014 with employment increasing a staggering 17.8 per cent.
