The Andrews Labor Government has today announced the appointments of Mr Trieu Huynh and Ms Marita Altman to the Magistrates’ Court of Victoria.
Mr Huynh has worked on a range of complex cases including homicides, sex offences and Commonwealth matters.
Mr Huynh was admitted to legal practice in 2006. He started his legal career as an articled clerk at the Office of Public Prosecutions in 2005 before moving overseas to work as a Crown Prosecutor.
Upon his return, he took up a Criminal Law position at Victoria Legal Aid (VLA) and has been a Program Manager at VLA since 2015.
Mr Huynh has a Bachelor of Science (Honours) and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University. He will take up his appointment on 20 January 2020.
Ms Altman has 20 years of legal experience, has been partner at Lethbridges Barristers and Solicitors since 2007, and has been a solicitor specialising in Criminal Law.
Ms Altman’s practice includes commercial fraud, drug importation and murder prosecutions, and she is a Law Institute Accredited Criminal Law Specialist.
Ms Altman has a Bachelor of Arts from the University of South Australia, and a Bachelor of Laws from Monash University.
Ms Altman will commence her appointment as a magistrate on 6 January 2020.
Ms Altman will be replacing Magistrate Jonathan Klesdadt, and Mr Huynh will replace Magistrate Charles Rozencwajg. |
