Tribute to John Cain at the Parliament of Victoria
Born during the Great Depression in 1931, John Cain rose through the ranks of the Victorian Labor Party to become the state’s 41st premier in 1982. He served Victoria from this position, with impeccable integrity and honesty, until 1990.
John Cain was instrumental in the passing of significant reforms for our national and state parks, climate, energy, land and women’s rights.
He was instrumental in making the life better for all people including those living in the Northern suburbs by giving them better access to public transport and as a result enhancing their access to more opportunities for work and study.
I will continue to ensure John Cain’s legacy endures for the benefit of the people of Victoria.
