The Andrews Labor Government today announced the appointment of Claire Ferres Miles as the new Chief Executive Officer of Sustainability Victoria.
Sustainability Victoria supports Victorian businesses and communities to reduce waste, act on climate change, improve recycling and use resources wisely.
Ms Ferres Miles will lead Sustainability Victoria’s transformative climate and energy programs, as well as continuing to work to strengthen the State’s recycling sector.
She brings a wealth of knowledge and experience to the role, most recently as City of Melbourne’s Director of City Strategy and Place.
Ms Ferres Miles was recognised as one of Victoria’s ‘Top 50 Public Sector Women’ in 2017 and her previous work across local government, state government and the private sector has led to significant achievements in affordable housing, sustainability, transport and planning.
Sustainability Victoria is helping act on a range of Government initiatives, including banning single-use plastic bags and e-waste going to landfill, moving towards a circular economy policy and working towards Victoria’s net zero emissions target by 2050.
